Fireplace too !
Not only did we get cabinets, rain and a snake today... we also got our fireplace. 'Tricon' truck arrived in the morning to deliver/install our 'Classic' style, paint grade mantle & fireplace. Surround & threshold stone is 'Ubatuba' granite, and it is really beautiful !
Cabinets arrive
Cabinets from 'Stuart Kitchens' arrived today. Ricky B. & Ricky P. started to install. Kitchen cabinets are 'Homecrest' brand, maple with ivory paint and a fawn glaze. Door style is Jamison. Cabinets were delivered despite torrential 24 hour rain storm. ~5-7 inches of rain in one day! Rain forced a visitor to slither up onto our brick porch, onto higher ground. We don't know what kind of snake this little guy was, but definitely not your everyday black snake. If you recognize (Kyle or Blake), please let us know.

Wood floors, ugh!
We didn't think that anything could test a marriage more than electrical work, but found out that installing a hardwood floor runs a very close second :) Lots of colorful, 'drunken sailor' language shared, but in the end all is well and white oak floor is looking great. George has also been making some good progress on the master-bath shower, it looks really nice.

Geothermal pipe & grout
Here's what will be put 'into' the 200 ft wells. Black polyethylene pipe loops will be pushed down into each well. Pipes will eventually be filled with a propylene-glycol/water solution. The liquid solution will absorb and maintain the temperature at that depth, which will be ~ 58 deg F. The ability to operate at a constant temp is the real selling feature of a geothermal system. A polymer grout will also be used to fill the well around the black pipe. The grout does a few important things for the well hole; it forms a thermal layer that aids in the transfer of heat, and also provides a low-permeability seal that bonds to the loops and the borehole wall... pretty cool stuff huh! It is however very similar to the stuff that BP used at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico to hold the oil drills in place. Hope ours works better than theirs did !
GeoThermal install started today
Team from "Patuxent Pump & Well" has started the installation of our geothermal heating/cooling system. Five 200 ft deep wells will be drilled between house and river. Trench was dug to hold the water that is required during drill process. The water is sucked into the drill to lubricate the drill. Team attaches ~20 ft drill pipe extensions about every 10 minutes to reach the 200 ft depth. Drilling process for the five wells will take 2 days.
